Frequently Asked Questions

My child has a summer birthday and I am unsure if I am sending him/her to kindergarten, should I register him/her?
If you are questioning having your child repeat pre k, please complete the form for placement. It is better for us to have a spot open up during the summer than to have to squeeze a child into already full classes.

What if I don't want to send my pre k student to school full days?
As was shared at the December School Committee meeting, the changes in next year's BBC class schedule were made after reviewing many years of registration data. Parents who are interested in a schedule other than what is offered are welcome to send their child for less time than what is scheduled but will still need to pay for their child's spot in the full day class. For example, if you'd only like to send your child to school for three full days of pre k, you can do that but will still need to pay tuition for the four full day spot, as we cannot fill that spot for the one day your child is not at school.

I am unable to afford tuition, what should I do?
If you are financially unable to afford tuition rates and you are a resident of Hopedale, please reach out to our school's main office to see if you qualify for a discounted tuition rate. Discounted tuition is income based and decided by the state formula for free and reduced school lunches.

What if I have more than one child attending BBC next year?If you have more than one child attending BBC at the same time, you will be eligible for a sibling discount on the second (or subsequent) child(ren). Please contact our main office for more information.

Can I request a teacher?
No, unfortunately due to the possibility of schedule and class assignment changes, we do not accept requests for specific teachers. We strive to make balanced classrooms where all children can be successful in their early education journeys.

Does BBC provide lunch?
Cold lunch and morning snack options are provided by the district’s Food Services Department. Families are able to order lunch and snack online on a weekly basis free of charge.

What are the chances of my child being enrolled?
In recent years we have been able to enroll all Hopedale residents who register on time. It is our goal to bring as many Hopedale residents through our program as possible. Unfortunately we cannot guarantee enrollment for non-residents but we do encourage all families who are interested in BBC to register.

Does my child need to be potty trained to attend?
No, BBC does not require children to be potty trained to attend traditional preschool. Students must be fully potty trained to enroll in Forest Friends.

We don’t live in Hopedale and I think my child needs special education services. Can they receive them at BBC?Unfortunately, it is state law that preschool students must receive special education services in the town in which they live. BBC can only service children who are Hopedale residents.
